Diplomacy in the Space Race

Even before the Space Race, the US and the USSR disliked each other extensively, this was mostly due to the US's idea that the USSRs communist government was wrong. This tension due to the cold war led to intense competition. Diplomacy is one of the main reasons that the Space race happened. Because there was a lack of diplomacy between the US and the USSR, each country was trying to outdo each other to prove their dominance. This lack of diplomacy, paired with the competition of the Space Race led to more tension between the two countries.
